The philosophy of the academy is strongly influenced by the founder of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Dr. Richard C. Webster. Dr. Webster’s primary goal was learning and teaching. Subsequently the World Academy of Cosmetic Surgery is willing to teach all doctors who are willing to learn.
Most members of WAOCS are dermatological surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, head and neck surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, general surgeons, plastic surgeons or ocular plastic surgeons — all of whom specialize in cosmetic surgery. The Academy is a registered non-profit organisation.
